Benefits of Synthetic Oil in Staten Island, NY

Here at VipaSynthetics in Staten Island, your local AMSOIL dealer, we are all aboutsynthetic oil. We have good reason to be. Synthetic oils consistently outperform conventional oils. AMSOIL was the first synthetic oil for automobiles on the market and remains the best. Synthetic oils are man-made in laboratories using the latest in petroleum technology. The result is a product that lasts longer, lubricates more efficiently, and protects more effectively than conventional oil.

Synthetic Oil Lasts Longer

Synthetic oil is built tougher, so it continues lubricating your engine for as long as 25,000 miles. It is also more resistant to extreme heat and cold, so it works under very harsh conditions that would cause conventional oil to break down.

Synthetic Oil Lubricates More Efficiently

Synthetic molecules are more uniform, smaller, and lighter than natural oil molecules. These properties require less energy to lubricate your engine, so you can be sure that yoursynthetic oil is working as best as possible.

Synthetic Oil Protects More Effectively

With molecules that are free of crude, synthetic oil contains less contaminants that occur in oil pulled from the ground, even after refining. These impurities cause engine corrosion and wear. Because synthetic oils do not introduce these contaminants into your engine, it protects better.

Your car needs more than engine oil to function properly. Luckily, Vipa Synthetics has the expertise to keep your vehicle running! Here, we explore the importance of transmission fluid in your vehicle.

Do You Need to Change Your Transmission Fluid?

The manufacturer's maintenance schedule for many automatic transmissions doesn't call for fresh fluid until 100,000 miles. Manual transmissions may be on a different schedule, so it's best to consult the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual.

With Age Comes Wear

Like other vital automotive fluids, transmission fluid deteriorates over time. Hard use and stop-and-go city driving, hauling heavy loads, trailer towing, will accelerate the deterioration. That kind of driving raises the operating temperature of the transmission, and heat puts more strain on the transmission and the fluid, which helps facilitate gear shifts, cools the transmission and lubricates moving parts.

If you do a lot of driving under high-stress conditions, you should check the transmission level more often and have a repair shop check the condition of the fluid. Transmission fluid often is red but can come in other colors, and as it deteriorates it tends to turn darker. It may also acquire a burned odor that could indicate it needs to be changed or that the transmission is developing mechanical problems. Another indication it needs changing is dirt or other debris in the fluid.

To Change or Not to Change?

If you have never changed the transmission fluid in your vehicle and have more than 100,000 miles on the odometer, should you change it now?

The answer is "yes", especially if you are having shifting problems. Go ahead and have it done if you're planning on keeping the vehicle a few years or longer. However, fresh fluid is not a cure for gears slipping, rough shifting or other mechanical problems, so don't expect a fluid change to be a magic elixir.
